In einer festen Einstellung beobachtet die Kamera eine Straßenszene an einem der Ausgänge des Grand Central Station in New York. Die Menschen gehen horizontal in verschiedenen Geschwindigkeiten durch das Bild oder treten aus dem Dunkel ins Licht. Sie gehen unterschiedlich mit ihrer Zeit um: einige Menschen kommen aus dem Dunkel ins Licht und schauen suchend umher, um ihre Orientierung zu finden. Andere verlassen den Bahnhof zielstrebig.

In a fixed setting, the camera observes a street scene on one of the outputs of the Grand Central Station in New York. People walk at different speeds horizontally through the image, or emerge from the darkness into the light. They handle their time differently: some people come out of the darkness into the light and look around, seeking to find their orientation. Others purposefully leave the station.
