Die Videoinstallation zeigt eine Fahrt durch Las Vegas auf dem Freeway 15. Bei tief stehender Sonne ziehen eine phantastische Landschaft, märchenhafte Gebäude, aber auch nüchterne Baustellen kulissenartig am Betrachter vorbei. Das langsame Vorbeigleiten und eine Verstärkung der Farben suggerieren einen modellhaften Eindruck. Raum und Zeit werden relativ. Die postmoderne Architektur, der Grad der Konsumorientierung, das suggerierte Wüstenklima, all dies löst in uns eine emotionale Mischung aus Irritation und Faszination aus. Las Vegas ist ein Mythos, der für Glücksspiel, Vergnügen und Geld steht. Die Videoinstallation deutet an, dass die Stadt auch eine Oase in der Wüste ist, in einer öden, leeren Landschaft gelegen und durch und durch künstlich. LAS VEGAS FREEWAY 15 macht gleichermaßen subtil wie prägnant deutlich, wie artifiziell sich unsere Gesellschaft in Teilen präsentiert - und wie gelassen wir dies hinnehmen. 

The video installation shows a ride through Las Vegas on the Freeway 15. Just before sunset a fantastic landscape, fabulous buildings, but also austere building sites pull past on the viewer like a backdrop. The slowly passing images and a strengthening of the colors suggest a model-like appearance. Space and time are relative. The post-modern architecture, the degree of consumer orientation, the suggested desert climate, all of these emotional triggers incite in us a mixture of irritation and fascination. Las Vegas is a myth, which stands for gambling, pleasure and money. The video installation suggests that the city is an oasis in the desert, situated in a desolate, barren landscape and thoroughly artificial. LAS VEGAS FREEWAY 15 makes both subtly and concisely clear how artificial our society presents in parts - and how calmly we accept this.
