Die 2-Kanal-Videoinstallation MANHATTAN zeigt eine von einem offenen Doppeldeckerbus aufgenommene Kamerafahrt durch Manhattan. Sie führt entlang des Broadways, um den Times Square herum und anschließend durch die 42nd Street. Durch die erhöhte Blickposition werden die Straßenschluchten erlebbar. Der Blick des Betrachters fällt tief in die Straßen und Gebäude hinein. Durch die Bewegung fließt die Architektur scheinbar ineinander. Der visuelle Raum öffnet sich durch die Wechselwirkung der Geschwindigkeit. Die Bildperformance der statischen Architekturelemente ergibt sich auf natürliche Weise durch das Tempo der Kamerafahrt. Die akustische Begleitung unterstützt und fördert die Raumerfahrung. Durch diese Videoinstallation entsteht eine neue visuelle Wahrnehmung von Raum und Zeit.

The 2-channel video installation MANHATTAN shows a camera ride through Manhattan recorded from an open double-decker bus: along Broadway, around Times Square, and then down 42nd Street. From the elevated viewing position, the canyons of the streets can be experienced. The viewer’s gaze falls deep into the streets and buildings. Through the movement, the architectural structures seem to flow into each other. The visual space opens up through the interaction with speed. The image performance of the static architectural elements results naturally from the speed of the camera movement. The acoustic accompaniment supports and promotes the spatial experience. This video installation creates a new visual perception of space and time.
